The Qualified Variable Tag Builder can be used in multiple places throughout the Qualified app to both personalize your experiences as well as pre-fill information into your visitor fields.
What are Variable Tags you ask? Variable tags are a special Qualified syntax that allows you to (1) take data stored in a Visitor Field and use it dynamically within a chat bot or experience on your website, and (2) populate Visitor Fields with data coming inbound from other systems.
You can use the variable tag builder in two main places within the Qualified app:
Using the variable tag in the experience builder will allow for you to personalize an experience for your visitor by calling them by first name, addressing them by company name, or pulling in any other vital information you might already know about them.
To access the builder in your experience, open an experience and click your custom greeting or custom question step within the experience. Next, begin to edit that step and you’ll see a blue icon appear on the right hand side. Click on this icon to open the variable tag builder and see your options for personalization as shown below.
You can select from General fields (fields that Qualified will pull in from your URL or automatically based on IP address), Fields (visitor fields within Qualified), or external fields (information pulled in from outside sources like Salesforce, Pardot, Marketo, etc.)
Visitor fields are the fields in Qualified where you will store everything you wish to track and know about your website visitors. Visitor fields contain information you might gather through chatting/talking to a lead directly, information they might have given you explicitly through a lead form or bot, or other info that might be pulled from an external system, like Salesforce, Pardot or Clearbit.
You can use the variable tag builder to pre-fill your visitor fields in your ‘visitor fields’ area of the Qualified.com application.
Read our guide on how to use our pre-fill option and the variable tag to get more detail.
You can use fallbacks in the variable tag builder as a ‘catch all’ if information doesn’t come through about the visitor. For example, if you’re setting up an experience to greet your visitor by name, you might want to include a fall back just in case the visitor's name isn’t known yet.
To use a fallback, select the variable tag you’d like and add your fallback in the text field to the right of the tag as shown below.
The Qualified Variable Tag Builder can be used in multiple places throughout the Qualified app to both personalize your experiences as well as pre-fill information into your visitor fields. Use the variable tag builder to help you manage pulling in information about your visitors such as a name, company, or any other fields you might already have filled in from external places such as Salesforce.
