A smart form is a form that triggers an action when a visitor submits it. Most frequently, a smart form will automatically update that visitor's database record. Use information entered in a Pardot smart form to also trigger a manual experience, like notifying reps instantly to pounce on VIP visitors. By transforming your Pardot forms into Qualified smart forms, you can qualify leads, customize experiences, and segment visitors based on their submitted information instantly.
Pardot sometimes refers to forms that perform progressive profiling as smart forms. In this article, we discuss Qualified smart forms.
Making Your Pardot Form a Smart Form
First, find your unique Qualified experience ID. When logged in as an admin, go to Settings → Experiences. Click on the name of your manually-triggered experience, and the ID is located in the top-right corner.
Next, navigate to your Pardot form's Completion Actions within Salesforce.
- From the Salesforce App Launcher, select Pardot.
- Click Content.
- Click Forms from the left panel.
- Click the Settings icon and select Edit on the right of an existing form or click +Add Form if you're building a new one.
- Click Next, editing your form as desired, until you are on the Completion Actions step.
The next steps vary based on your form's configuration.
If your form is on a Pardot landing page:
- Click the Thank You Code tab.
- In the Thank You Code field, enter the following code, customized with your unique experience ID:
<script> window.qualified ('pardotFormSubmitted','YOUR_EXPERIENCE_ID') </script>
Verify that straight apostrophes, not curly, are inserted. - Click Confirm & Save.
If your form is embedded in an iframe:
- Click the Thank You Code tab.
- In the Thank You Code field, enter:
- Your JavaScript snippet (located under Settings icon → Messenger)
- The following code, customized with your unique experience ID:
<script> window.qualified ('pardotFormSubmitted','YOUR_EXPERIENCE_ID') </script>
Verify that straight apostrophes, not curly, are inserted.
- Click Confirm & Save.
If your form redirects to another website or a thank you page:
- Click the Thank You Content tab.
- Check Redirect to the following URL instead of showing the form’s Thank You Content.
- Attach to the end of your redirect URL the following, customized with your unique experience ID:
?q_pardotFormSubmitted=YOUR_EXPERIENCE_ID
- Paste your updated redirect link in the Redirect Location field.
- Click Confirm & Save.
When redirecting to a thank you page, you may need to add the Qualified JavaScript snippet in addition to the customized redirect URL.
