Simpro, a leading AI-first operating platform for residential and commercial trades, sought to boost its BDR efficiency and resolve challenges with inconsistent live chat engagement by leveraging AI. After implementing and rigorously A/B testing "Alex," their AI SDR agent, against their human BDR team for three months, Simpro saw dramatically improved results. Piper the AI SDR agent successfully handled proactive engagement and upfront qualification 24 x 7, leading to a 4.2X increase in meetings booked and a 4X increase in meetings offered, while also doubling their inbound lead capture efficiency.

The Challenge

Simpro’s Director of Web Strategy, Sara Cooper, saw an opportunity to leverage AI to boost the efficiency of their Business Development Representative (BDR) team.

While using Qualified for live chat, the Simpro team faced two key hurdles:

  1. Inconsistent BDR Engagement: It was challenging to get every BDR consistently onboarded and engaged with the live chat platform, creating varied visitor experiences.
  2. Focus vs. Qualification: The BDR team was spending valuable time on upfront qualification, pulling them away from high-value activities and targeted outreach.

The Solution

Sara and her team at Simpro partnered with their Qualified Success Architect to implement Piper the AI SDR Agent. They worked through a strategic implementation, with a few key milestones:

  • Branding for Trust: Simpro’s SDR agent was named Alex, a universally recognized professional name that means "defender/helper," to create trust and avoid gender bias with their audience.
  • The A/B Test: Being a data-driven company, Simpro launched a rigorous 3-month proof of concept (POC). They implemented a true 50/50 traffic split, pitting the new AI SDR experience directly against their existing BDR-managed experience on Qualified.

Today, Alex serves as the front line of engagement on Simpro’s website, available around the clock. Alex is tasked with booking meetings for Account Executives (AEs) with strategic accounts and scheduling meetings for BDRs with all other qualified visitors.

The Results

The three-month test demonstrated that Alex not only competed but significantly outperformed the human-staffed chat, delivering results that immediately excited the Simpro leadership team.

Alex, the AI SDR Agent, successfully handled upfront qualification, allowing the Simpro BDR team to focus on high-value interactions while ensuring no qualified prospect was missed. 

The increase in meetings was compounded by a 4X increase in meetings offered. Furthermore, the efficiency of their lead capture doubled, with 20% of all inbound leads now coming through Simpro’s SDR Agent Alex and Qualified.
